Lettuce
Greens and lettuce may lose their appetizing appearance if they are stored in the refrigerator for a long time. However, limp lettuce leaves can be quickly revived in cold water. They will again seem juicy and bright. Discard only leaves that appear spoiled.
I’m afraid to introduce something new into my diet, so after 2 weeks it’s meager. Oatmeal porridge in the morning, with milk and water. Dry bread, homemade sour cream, pasta, broth, rice soup, homemade soup, meatball soup, I eat boiled beets (and you?), dried apricots, non-sweet cookies and tea with milk all the time. Yesterday, apparently I drank tea with expired milk, I was in my stomach all night twisted and scurried, and the baby suffered... It was a terrible night((((It was expired because the shelf life was 4-5 days, and we bought 3 bags at once. This one was 3. Yes, I was terribly stupid(((throw your slippers. Then I wanted ask…

In general, I was annoyed and relieved. She complained, cleared her head, and was released. At home we didn’t even need a dump - we just hid in a corner, and my husband somehow managed to warm up the pasta and sausages. In general, in fact, I was actually lucky this week - they brought me food for free, the bots are sending it, yesterday at the pharmacy they gave me a sedative) Today, from Tannoy's generous shoulder, I got a pot of honey) Farmer's honey! Hurray) who should I send a link to it? On Facebook, I recently went on a test drive of pvpers (yes, I completely betrayed our beloved grovia - I just can’t keep up with this lion to button up)…
- If stored properly in a dry place, pasta can be stored for a year, but pasta with additives, such as egg pasta, can be stored for 5 months, or tomato pasta for three months. When we buy pasta, we never look at the expiration date, because we think that the expiration date is very long, but a year is not so much, I came across it several times with an expired one, I cooked it for dogs.
- 12 months, shelf life of products without additives
- 6 months, pasta with additives such as egg or milk is stored
- Pasta with the addition of tomato or tomato paste is stored for 2 months.
You don’t have to memorize the expiration dates of certain pasta products. Manufacturers will take care of us by printing expiration dates on packages and permissible air humidity in storage areas based on the composition of the product.
Pasta, like other products, can be subject to spoilage and infestation by pests and rodents. The most common cause of pasta spoilage is an increase in humidity above 16%. Products for longer storage should have a humidity of no more than 11%. pasta can be stored even in cold rooms. These premises must be dry and clean and not infested with barn pests. The temperature in such rooms should not exceed 30 degrees.
The approximate shelf life of pasta ranges from 2 to 12 months. Below is a small table:
Pasta has appeared in people's lives for a very long time. The first mention of them can be dated back to the 4th millennium BC. In Egyptian tombs there are images of people who were engaged in the manufacture of a product similar to noodles. In the east, noodles have long been famous for their properties. It was used for rituals and medicinal purposes. The court physician Xiao Gong suggested introducing buckwheat noodles into the diet for colds. Also, wheat and rice noodles should prevent early aging.
Pasta should be stored in a dry and ventilated area. The temperature should be no more than +30 degrees, and the relative humidity no more than 70 percent. The shelf life of pasta without additives is 1 year. Egg, curd and milk products can be stored for 5 months. And the shelf life of tomato products made from tomato paste is three months.
The shelf life of pasta is always indicated on the packaging, so if you pour an open pack of pasta into containers, simply cut off a piece of the packaging where the expiration date is written on the product and place it in the container on top. This way you will never get confused about the shelf life of various pasta products.
If your pasta has additives such as green spinach or tomatoes, then its shelf life is quite short - only 2-3 months (depending on the manufacturer).
Egg noodles and pasta last a little over 6 months.
Manufacturers recommend storing regular pasta without any additives for more than a year. in fact, I kept such pasta for one and a half, and two years, and nothing happened to it or to us who used it.
The only condition is that the place where the pasta is stored is dry. If your summer is very hot and there is a risk of infestation by various pests, put an open package of pasta in the refrigerator. I do this with all cereals.
The shelf life of pasta depends on the type of wheat and additives. It is believed that pasta made from durum wheat flour has the longest shelf life. Their shelf life is 1 year, and they do not lose their nutritional value. But for pasta with various additives, the shelf life varies from 3 to 6 months. You must carefully study the labels on the packaging so as not to buy a product that has expired.
It all depends on the variety, namely on the quality of the flour and the place of preparation.
Nowadays, pasta comes in different varieties, even in different shapes and different sizes.
The composition of the products we are interested in is as different as its variety of forms, which means that the storage conditions and periods, as well as the preparation methods (cooking time), may differ slightly.
Of course, on any package there is a corresponding inscription about the terms, conditions and even recipes for preparing dishes with this specific type of product.

Boiled pasta can be stored (but only in the refrigerator) for up to three days.
We read the expiration date on the packaging, and we will know more precisely what we are dealing with.
I consider pasta to be a long-lasting product. In our family, we once found Soviet-made pasta in the pantry and it was perfectly usable. As an experiment, we boiled them and ate them. Everyone remained alive and well. The pasta has not lost its taste.
The shelf life largely depends on the manufacturer and proper storage.
Pasta manufacturers indicate a shelf life of twelve months.
They write this period on the packaging in order to protect themselves from lawsuits if someone suddenly gets poisoned.
Pasta should be stored in a dry place, preferably in an airtight bag. Make sure that rodents do not get to the pasta. To avoid direct sunlight. The optimal storage temperature is approximately 30 degrees.
If the pasta is ordinary, then it can lie in a dry place for a whole year. And some types of pasta can be stored for six to three months. If an egg is added to the pasta, its shelf life is six months. If I cook pasta and put it in the refrigerator, I can still use it within 24 hours; during this time the pasta does not spoil.
Once we had horns at home, I didn’t like them and I didn’t cook them, they stayed with me for more than a year, when the expiration date expired, crumbs from the horns appeared at the bottom of the bag and I gave them to a friend who has a dog.

Before cooking pasta, many people wash it with cold water, but this is not necessary, because... All nutrients are washed out, and pasta dishes are not tasty.
The student's liver failed due to expired pasta. Yes, a rotten dish can lead to death.
The student skimped on food and ate pasta that was five days past its expiration date. Almost immediately the guy felt bad, and he thought that he was poisoned by the old dish, but everything turned out to be much worse: the unfortunate man’s liver failed. It all ended very badly, and yes, this can happen because of ordinary pasta.
On the YouTube channel Chubbyemu, where videos on medical topics are published, a video has appeared about what the consequences of student (and not only) nutrition can sometimes be. It's about a guy named AJ who didn't think much about his diet. The student is used to saving money on lunch and eating mostly pasta with cheap sauce. More often than not, he would simply cook a huge pot of pasta on Sunday and put it into containers for each day.
Interesting: How long does cottage cheese last in the freezer?
One not-so-great day for AJ, he returned home from university and decided to have lunch (as always, pasta). The student saw that one of the containers was not in the refrigerator, but thought that he himself had taken it out just a few hours ago. The guy was also not embarrassed by the fact that the paste was already five days old. But when AJ started eating, the smell of the dish seemed strange to him. However, the hungry student did not attach any importance to this, deciding that it was the new sauce.
And in vain. Almost immediately after lunch, AJ began to feel ill. He was vomiting terribly (and not only), his head and stomach ached. The guy decided that it was just food poisoning and that it would soon go away. But several hours later, the student still felt disgusting, and an ambulance had to be called.
Doctors found out that AJ was not feeling well at all because of poisoning. Multiple tests showed that the guy’s liver began to fail and disintegrate into pieces, which then went on a journey throughout the body. He urgently needed a healthy organ for transplantation. Unfortunately, a donor could not be found and the student died.
An autopsy showed that the student’s terrible condition was caused by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. It usually also causes gastritis. True, most often the consequences are not so terrible - you can get rid of the unwanted guest of the body with standard detoxification.
But in the case of AJ, there was another hero of the occasion - the Cereulide toxin, produced by the same bacterium. Together they led to fat entering the student’s liver. This, in turn, caused liver failure, an inflammatory process was launched, due to which the ammonia level in the blood increased, which led to cerebral edema, and then to death. And rotten pasta is to blame for everything.
And if you think that there are too many exceptions and coincidences in this story and that this happens once indefinitely, then this is not so. Such cases are not isolated, and the author of the video about AJ both describes in detail the process of liver failure itself and mentions other similar medical cases.
So the next time you think a few days old pasta is edible, think again.
The doctors did not have time to find a liver for the guy to transplant in such a short time. But sometimes cases with donor organs have a happier ending and an unusual story: a man with failing kidneys despaired of waiting his turn for surgery and out of grief went to drink coffee. Who knew that this would save his life?
Interesting: Is it possible to store crayfish in the freezer?
And sometimes love for a fragrant drink can lead not to a happy ending, but to general outrage. Cops from Canada calmly drank coffee, but managed to outrage the entire Japanese Twitter. However, the residents of the Land of the Rising Sun have a reasoned explanation for this.
